Audrey Hepburn, a very famous fellow appendix cancer patient

Audrey Hepburn is arguably one of history's most iconic actresses. She sadly lost her fight with appendix cancer on January 20th 1993, aged just 63, and yet her elegance and style will live on forever. She has certainly been a role model for our CEO and Founder, Dawn Green. Dawn often thinks back to one of Audrey's famous quotes when fighting her own cancer battles |
Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!
| Sean Hepburn Ferrer, Audrey's beloved son, recently offered the following quote in support of our charity efforts: |
On behalf of our family, I wish to thank Dawn Green for her visionary and courageous efforts for having created this network which brings awareness to this rare type of cancer.
—Sean Hepburn Ferrer |
And Sean had this to say on the days surrounding the loss of his dear mother:
There we were... not just faced with the loss of a mother, a companion, but of an extremely valuable contributor to society. Medicine was helpless but for giving us those precious few months to tell her how much we treasured her ... how much we loved her. And yet she helped us through it, explaining how the taller trees must fall to let the light through to the saplings. As she put it - 'it's part of the cycle of nature - of life'.
—Sean Hepburn Ferrer, son and author of 'Audrey Hepburn - An Elegant Spirit'
